'Million Muslim March' Scheduled for Sept. 11 Reorients to Seek 9/11 'Truth'

The American Muslim Political Action Committee is hosting what it hopes will be a gathering of one million people in Washington, D.C., on the 12th anniversary of 9/11 to urge the government to reveal "the truth" about the attacks.

"We want to hold President Obama accountable for his empty promises of creating a transparent government," march organizer Isa Hodge told U.S. News. "What exactly have we spent all our money, lost lives and taken lives for? The entire record of the 9/11 Commission has never been released."

Protesters will also denounce "FBI traps," "illegal tapping and surveilling of Muslim Americans" and "media propaganda making the word terrorist synonymous with Muslim," he said.

The march was announced as the "Million Muslim March" earlier this year, but its name has since been changed to the "Million American March Against Fear," according to Hodge.

The organizer said north-central Pennsylvania's Williamsport Tea Party has joined with planners, in addition to groups that adhere to conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks or oppose the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes the president to approve indefinite detentions.

"Depending on my work schedule, I will be attending the event," Nick Defonte of the Williamsport Tea Party told U.S. News. "We all deserve to be judged on our own merits, and that is precisely why I will show my solidarity with peaceful, Constitution-loving citizens."

"We're waiting on Minister Louis Farrakhan [of the Nation of Islam] to respond to our request," Hodge said. "His ministers below him are interested in being involved, we're just waiting for Minister Farrakhan to OK it."

Farrakhan keynoted the 1995 "Million Man March" and his group provided much of the organizational muscle needed to deliver nearly one million attendees to the National Mall for that event. U.S. News was unable to reach the Nation of Islam for comment through its Final Call newspaper.

Hodge said he's also trying to persuade former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, to attend.

One major Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, will not be joining the event.

CAIR spokesman Corey Saylor told U.S. News his group definitely will not participate, but expressed support in theory for the idea of a "Million Muslim March."

AMPAC has applied for space on the National Mall for the demonstration. The National Parks Service, according to Hodge, has scheduled a July 28 phone conference about the request, citing "a few questions" about the application.

The National Parks Service requires a permit for all large events on the Mall, spokesman Carol Johnson told U.S. News. "We get lots of permit applications daily, so availability is always changing," she said in an email.

With the scheduled demonstration less than two months away, a Facebook event advertising the march indicates attendance might be more than 999,000 short of one million, although several ifs could bolster attendance. The event encourages readers to "help us get the truth about 9/11."

Hodge has little patience for allegations of insensitivity in picking the date.

"There were Muslim firefighters, police officers, first responders," he said. "That day was not only an attack on Americans but a deeper attack on Muslim Americans... we were not only victims but made villains."

Are Muslims terrorists?

On September 11th 2001 the tragic events in New York and Washington put all Muslims on trial. Politicians and media outlets spread Islamophobia to the American public. They created fear and hatred for every Muslim man with a beard, every Muslim woman with a head scarf, or anyone speaking a foreign language.

The word “terrorist” became synonymous with Muslims and no one else. According to my research, the definition of terrorism changed on 9/11. The media brandished this ugly word in an orchestrated smear campaign against 1.6 billion Muslims, using techniques designed to manipulate audience emotions.

A terrorist is defined in Merriam-Webster's © 2000 as : “a person or a group of people who use the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.” But after 9/11 the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy © 2005 defines it as: “Acts of violence committed by groups that view themselves as victimized by some notable historical wrong. They stage unexpected attacks on civilian targets, including embassies and airliners, with the aim of sowing fear and confusion.”

In reality, terrorism is not specific to one group or another; it is sometimes hard to distinguish who is and who isn’t a terrorist. As Gearld Spencer wrote in his book “Harry’s Game” (1975): “ One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.”

The word terrorist isn’t about Muslims; it describes a small minority of people from all races and religious beliefs.

At first, the accusation was: “All Muslims are terrorists.” When the media who made this statement realized no one in their right mind would believe that all 1.6 billion Muslims in the world could be terrorists, they reversed their statement to sound more objective and fair: “All Muslims may not be terrorists, but almost all terrorists are Muslims.”

Really?

Someone sympathetic to Islam might respond with an example of Timothy McVeigh or the KKK. Yet the average American will continue to watch the mainstream media day in, day out and see pictures of “Muslim terrorists” flashed across the screen or spoken about for hours on the radio.

This is Anders Behring Breivik who on July 22nd 2011 dressed as a policeman and set off a series of explosions with a fully automatic rifle killing 93 people in Oslo Norway. Breivik's online 1500 page manifesto clearly stated his motives for this, as every media outlet called it, “murderous rampage” or “random act of violence” (not terrorism or terror attacks): his hatred of the “Muslimization” of his country had gone too far and he was calling on all conservative Christians to start the 4th Christian Crusade. He advocated deadlier attacks including ones involving the use of Weapons Of Mass Destruction, as reported on ABC World News on July 25th 2011.

So how does the threat from Breivik's "Christian terrorism" compare to the threat from "Muslim terrorism"?

The truth is that Muslims commit very little terrorism, compared to other groups. According to the FBI database there have been 318 terrorist incidents in the US from 1980-2005. That includes 209 bombings and 43 arson. Out of those incidents, 42% were committed by Latino groups, 24% by Extreme Left Wing groups, 7% by Jewish Extremists, 6% by Muslim Extremists, and 5% by Communists.

Also not a single U.S. civilian has been killed by Muslim extremists since 9/11. And only three out of 83 acts of terrorism between 9/11 and 2009 were done by Muslim extremists. Most were by animal rights and environmental activists.

Remember the quote “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter"? In 1985, then-President Ronald Reagan received a group of bearded men wearing turbans and looking very mean. After the meeting Reagan said: “These are the moral equivalent of America’s founding fathers.”

The men the President was speaking about were the Afghan Mujahiddin now known as Al Qaeda.

 You may be reluctant to consider the Founding Fathers as terrorists. But their violence was intended to frighten or terrorize enemies. As Ted Robert Gurr writes in Violence in America: Protest, Rebellion, Reform: “Physical violence was commonly used and some groups used torture and lynchings to intimidate and punish Loyalists.”

We as Americans don’t see these as acts of terrorism, but as the acts of freedom fighters, even though England was the ruling government at that time. By today standards they would be terrorists. According to the 2005 definition discussed earlier and The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85) terrorism is "the unlawful use of force and violence ... to intimidate or coerce a government ... in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

So what does Islam say about terrorism?  At the time the Qur'an was revealed (7th century A.D.), there was no United Nations or Amnesty International to keep the peace or expose injustice. Inter-tribal violence and vengeance were commonplace. Nevertheless, the Qur'an repeatedly urges forgiveness and restraint, and warns believers not to "transgress" or become "oppressors." For example:  Chapter 6 verse 151 "...and do NOT take any Human being's life - the life which God has declared to be sacred - otherwise than in pursuit of justice: this has He enjoined upon you so that you might use your reason!”   The Quran clearly forbids us to take any human being's life either Muslim or non-Muslim, unless it be “in pursuit of justice” meaning punishing someone for committing murder or in self defense.

So why do alleged Muslim terrorists usually receive the most coverage despite the fact that they are near the bottom of the list when it comes to terrorist activity - and their religion forbids terrorism?

 Now that the facts are clear, do you think anyone would dare to rephrase the statement and end with “almost all terrorists are…” Latinos, leftists, environmentalists, Christians, Sikhs or Jews? I doubt it. This twisted logic is only applied to Muslims, not anyone else. So next time you hear of a “terrorist,” think of the facts behind the perceptions, not the images from the media infiltrating your mind. As a famous statement goes: “Image is everything.” Indeed, everything but the truth.

A Democratic Party caucus chairman who has speculated about Jewish involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attacks has launched a new political action committee dedicated to supporting “anti-Zionist” Muslim candidates who believe “the ‘war on terror’ is a hoax and that the official story of 9/11 is not true,” according to the group’s website.

MD Rabbi Alam is an Obama campaign ally and Missouri-based Democratic activist who came under fire in July after he told the Free Beacon that “not a single Jew” was killed during the 9/11 attacks. (Alam is not a rabbi.) ...

Called the American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), the group aims to get “Muslims elected to office” and become more active in the American political system. Alam is listed at the website’s owner.

Your article "Missouri Democrat launches 9-11 Truth PAC" is misleading, perhaps even libelous, and ought to be corrected.

The phrases "speculated about Jewish involvement" and "not a single Jew" give the reader a false and arguably libelous impression of MD Alam's position on 9/11. In fact, MD has publicly declared that he mis-spoke when he made these statements, and he has apologized to the Jewish community. Also, your article suggests that AMPAC's primary or sole focus is 9/11, Zionism, and the "war on terror." The truth is that AMPAC will be supporting essentially all Muslim candidates for office, and will be focusing on a wide range of issues.

Please publish a correction establishing, for the record, the facts as stated above.

Q: Why another organization? We already have CAIR and ISNA and MPAC and other groups.

A: None of these organizations focuses exclusively on getting Muslims involved in the political process: (1) Getting Muslims elected to office, (2) Getting Muslims out to vote, and (3) Making sure that the views and values of Muslims help make policy in America.

Q: What are “the views and values of Muslims?” Aren't Muslims diverse in their political views?

A: AMPAC will focus on those issues that are of special importance to the Muslim community, and where there is a significant degree of agreement among Muslims. For example, there is widespread agreement in the community (though this is censored by the current leadership) that the “war on terror” is a hoax and that the official story of 9/11 is not true. See: http://muslimsforasafeamerica.org/?p=83 Since Muslims have suffered extreme discrimination due to the phony “war on terror,” this issue deserves to be at the top of Muslims' list of political priorities. Also, the majority of Muslims are pro-peace, anti-Zionist, and opposed to usury (riba). Perhaps most importantly, Muslims oppose corruption (al-fasaad) and support clean, honest and transparent governance. We will support candidates according to their positions on these and other important issues.

Q: Aren't some of these views too “radical”? Won't they alienate non-Muslims?

A: The history of the Jewish-Zionist lobby AIPAC shows that it is more effective to be “radical” and express one's views strongly and honestly, than to be fearful and timid. The best defense is a good offense. Most of our seemingly “radical” positions are closely aligned with the views of the majority of the American people, who oppose the 9/11 wars, want to cut military spending, dislike the Patriot Act and other unconstitutional laws, and hate big bankster usury. Polls even show that 36% of the American people think it is likely that 9/11 was a false-flag operation! That is more people than voted for President Obama.

Q: Will there be any favoritism toward Democrats versus Republicans, since M.D. Alam is a well-known Democrat?

A: No. AMPAC is nonpartisan. But our support for candidates will be partly determined by their positions on issues important to Muslims. For example, in the Republican Party, Mitt Romney is a strong supporter of Zionism and the “war on terror” while Ron Paul is not, so we would be inclined to support Paul over Romney. Another reason to support Ron Paul is that Paul is an opponent of the corrupt, usury-based Federal Reserve monetary system. We believe Muslims should support Ron Paul and other like-minded Republicans, as well as pro-peace and pro-civil-liberties Democrats. Our support for candidates will be determined by their positions on issues important to Muslims, not by which party they belong to.

Q: What, specifically, will AMPAC do?

A: AMPAC will provide monetary support to Muslim and Muslim-friendly political candidates; encourage Muslims to run for office and provide logistical and monetary support to those who run; highlight specific political campaigns deserving of Muslim support; educate American Muslims about the political system and how they can and should get involved; and educate the American public about Muslim values, Muslim involvement in politics, and why Muslims hold the political views that they do.

We hope and expect that all Muslims running for office will contact us so we can list their campaigns on our website and offer America's millions of Muslims a convenient way to donate to their campaigns, and if possible volunteer.

Once we are up and running, we hope to have a newsletter aimed at politically mobilizing Muslims. We will also regularly issue press releases to the general media designed to educate non-Muslims and win support for our positions and activities, and solicit TV and radio interviews and news stories.
